Construction and the Circular Economy

The constructions sector is the most material resource intensive sector in the EU, with building construction and infrastructure, around 370 million tonnes of construction and demolition waste is produced. However most of this material is already recycled.  Yet there is much more to achieve in terms of the circular economy.  Greater recycled content in buildings and roads, less waste materials on site, towards off-site builds and greater use of design technologies to reduced mistakes and design changes, all represent ways in which to make the sector more circular.
